Icons

I find it interesting to notice how easy it is to recognize icons, or stars, even if they are deleted from the scene.

Several video displays are placed side by side about 2-3 feet apart, where a video is looped in which an “icon” or “star” is removed from the video and white replaces that. The last display offers the viewer the same placement as those previous “icons.” So that display actually has a hidden webcam where the viewer will see him/her-self at the status of those icons. But in reality, the viewer is taken out of the picture. Also, something interesting to consider is whether the viewer will recognize whom he/she sees in the video. Will it be as easy for them to recognize themselves, as it is easy to recognize Michael Jackson dancing removed from the movie?

This video is just a simulation of what the installation would look like. All the programs are written in Processing.
