The gazette was a new concept in the 19th century where different subjects or news were juxtaposed and that in itself reflected society at that time; they needed to know a little bit of everything fast and that contributed to a meaningless sense of what was happening around them. Well these days, we still have the same format; headlines for top stories are chosen (how are top stories chosen?). So working with these titles and showing their randomness and the fact that they are placed all together contributes to indifference or numbness to the reader (a report on the war in Iraq side by side to a story about a dog...) Are they at the same level?
I decided to extract rss feeds and use titles of top stories and start spiraling them with a sort of optical illusion effect. Afterwards I could go through the spiral and it will seem like a tornado, the spiral will slow down at times and go faster at others. It can be seen from the side... Basically, the titles are transformed into nonsense, since the overall impression does not represent reality anyway.
I like both versions. One (the top one)shows the rss feed as is it is in a string where the user can manipulate it as he/she wishes, either reading the titles or mixing them up even more. The other (the bottom one) is very hard to follow but also emulates reality in that we get the headlines one after each other and it just is information overload.
